What is the Raya Mission?
“Raya” is an English transliteration of one of the Hebrew words for “Neighbor.” Since Jesus tells us to love God with everything and love our neighbors as ourselves, we take that call seriously. One way that we seek to love our neighbors in our community is by taking a week each summer to perform tangible acts of love through home repairs, lawn work, light brush removal, painting, etc. for both homeowners and non-profits within the RSU 22 area (Hampden, Winterport, Newburgh, Frankfort).
We believe that lives are changed, challenged, and transformed through the
powerful love of Jesus Christ and hope to share that transforming love with you.
Applications will be available in the Spring of 2025—stay tuned!
We will be looking for projects that would take three (3) days or less for a crew of 3 – 6
individuals. We are happy to provide yard work (trimming bushes, raking leaves &
weeding), porch repair, painting, weatherization, house and window cleaning and
other small home repair projects. We do not currently offer work on any roof
projects.
For us to be able to work on the property, the following must apply:
- The property must be located in one of the towns in the RSU 22 District
Hampden, Newburgh, Winterport and Frankfort. - You are comfortable allowing volunteers to work on your home and will allow use of the restroom.
- You or another adult member of your family can be there during the time the work is being completed between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM.
- You are willing to meet with us on site ahead of time to show us the work you would like to have done.
Each application will be reviewed for consideration, but know that we are limited in
the number of residents we can help. Submission of an application does not
guarantee the project will be selected for completion.
