HHUMC’s Children’s Programs
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
At Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church, we know our children are the future of our church, so we strive to have engaging programs for all ages. Our Nursery, Sunday School, and Youth Group programs operate under a Safe Sanctuaries Policy. We offer the following for our youth:
Nursery: We provide a staffed nursery for babies and children up to preschool age during the entire service.
Sunday School: On Sunday mornings we offer classes for children from preschool through eighth grade. During the school year the classes are broken down into four age groups, while during the summer we offer a one-room Sunday School class for elementary students. All children join the adults for the beginning of the worship service, then the Pastor invites them to the front of the church for a short Children’s Message with the congregation. After that the children head down to their classrooms for songs, Bible Stories, crafts, games, and more!
Youth Group: During the school year the youth group for middle and high school students meet twice a month on Sunday evenings. The kids get together having fun in Christian fellowship, strengthening their relationship with God, and working together in service opportunities.

Youth Ministry Special Annual Events:
Easter Egg Hunt: Easter is celebrated with our annual Easter Egg hunt for Sunday School kids.
Children’s Sunday: Celebrated in June, this is an event to look forward to all year—a service run by the children in our church.
Vacation Bible School: One week each summer the whole church comes together for an action-packed week of VBS! Join us for singing, snacks, crafts and games all designed to help kids learn more about God.
Art and Music Camp: One week each summer we host a fun and engaging art and music camp for children!
Christmas Pageant: Every Christmas the children of the church put on a Christmas Pageant. Sometimes it’s the traditional reenactment of the story of Jesus’ Birth, sometimes it’s a more unique presentation!
Aside from programs specifically for the children, our young members are encouraged to participate in the life of the church. They share musical gifts alone or with the voice or bell choir, help out at special events, and even deliver the sermon once a year!
